The Evolution of Cyber Security

The Evolution of Cybersecurity

In NSE 1, you learned about the threat landscape and the security problems facing organizations and individuals.

In NSE 2 The Evolution of Cybersecurity course, you will learn about products that security vendors have created to
address cyberthreats. This course traces the evolution of network security products from simple to sophisticated, as organizations encountered increasingly complex cyberattacks

Course Key Learnings

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  •  Identify network security products and explain how they protect networks
  •  Describe how network security technology has developed to counter evolving cyberthreats
  • Understand how we are tracked online by corporations, nation-states your ISP and others.

Course Outline:

Lesson1 : Cloud Security

In this lesson we will explore the mysterious cloud , what it really is , how it comes to be, some of the security issues that   we encounter there.

Lesson2:SASE

In this lesson, we will introduce you to the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), what it is, how it has evolved, and the network security challenges it solves

Lesson 3:SD-WAN

In this lesson, we’ll take a look at how organizations with multiple locations have traditionally connected their networks together, and how the internet and other advances allow them to save money and be much more flexible.

 Lesson4:Endpoint Security

In this lesson, you will learn about how the rise of personal computers led to an explosion in the quantity of malware attacks and how endpoint software solutions were created to protect users from those attacks. Over time, the scope of endpoint solutions has expanded to include much more than just anti-virus.

 Lesson5: Firewall

In this lesson, you will learn how firewalls were created to solve early network security problems and how, as those problems changed, firewall technology has adapted to keep networks protected.

 Lesson6: Wi-Fi

In this lesson, you will learn about the technology that connects devices wirelessly, and the security issues they raise.

 Lesson7: Threat Intelligence Services

In this lesson, you will learn how security vendors collect threat intelligence from various sources and provide access to that collected knowledge to detect not only malware, but all sorts of bad behaviors.

 Lesson8: SOAR

In this lesson, you will learn what SOAR is and how it benefits network security. In networks where the complexity and manual tasks delay responses to cyber-attacks, SOAR automates an orchestrated response, which ensures a timely neutralization of an attack or breach and relief to teams who suffer from a skills shortage.

Network Access Control

In this lesson, you will learn about technologies that identify what’s on your network in order to control which devices can connect and which devices are blocked.

 Lesson9: Sandbox

In this lesson, you will learn about a security technology that can detect threats that have never been detected before.

Lesson 10:Security Information & Event Management

In this lesson, you will learn about how knowledge gained from network devices and services can be used to both detect bad behaviors as they happen, and also provide rich historical data to show what happened in the past.

 Lesson 11: Web Application Firewall

In this lesson, you will learn about the security technologies specifically designed to protect web services.

 Lesson 12:Secure Email Gateway

In this lesson, you will learn how email can be used for malicious purposes, and the security technologies that can detect friend from foe.

 Lesson 13: Web Filter

In this lesson, you will learn about security technologies that can, based on policies, recognize the type of content served up by a website, and then determine whether or not it can be accessed by network clients.
